Anna Mae Rapp, 88, Nevada, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Christian Health Care in Nevada following a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 22, 1920 in Liberal, Mo., to Richard Matthew Compton and Elizabeth Ward Compton. She married Paul Forest Rapp on May 24, 1940, in Fort Scott, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 2008.

Anna Mae grew up in rural Vernon County. She attended the Phillips School in Bellamy. She worked at the Nevada Habilitation Center for many years until her retirement in 1985. Anna Mae was a member of the Pine Street Baptist Church in Nevada.

Survivors include one son, Richard D. Rapp and his wife Mena, Hawthorne, Calif.; six daughters, Elizabeth M. Bozworth, Carol Heathman, Sandra Burdick and her husband Richard, and Pauline Rapp, all of Nevada, Judy Collins, Lockwood, Mo., and Delores Russell and her husband Jim, Sheldon, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, L.E. Compton and Clyde Compton; one sister, Fern Kuntz; and two sons-in-law, Jesse Bozworth and Denny Collins.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, March 14, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with brother Bert Travis officiating. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Milo, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m. on Friday evening, March 13, at the funeral home.
