Robert Daniel "Bob" Baird

Robert Daniel "Bob" Baird, age 62, former resident of Fort Scott and more recently of Gardner, Kan., died Thursday, March 26, 2009, in Gardner. He was born Dec. 19, 1946 in Washington, Kan., the son of Floyd Malcolm Baird and Margaret Dorothy Wohler Baird. He graduated from Washington, Kan., High School and attended two years at Kansas University. He married Patricia Ann Flagello on May 11, 1982, in New York City. While in Fort Scott, Bob worked for Citizens Bank. He was currently a driver for the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad. Bob served eight years and seven months active duty in the United States Navy. He was of the Methodist faith. One of his hobbies was working crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia, Olathe, Kan.; a daughter, Kelly McLenon and husband Tyler, Overland Park, Kan.; a stepson, Brian Windisch, Overland Park; brother, Neil Baird and wife Sylvia, Overland Park; and two sisters, Sharon Soudek and husband Eldon, Topeka, Kan., and Marcia Maurer and husband Gale, of the state of Nebraska. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and one brother.

The Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct funeral services at 12:30 p.m., Monday, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in U.S. National Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 V.F.W.
