Peggy Patton Adams Ewing, 77, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009 in Columbia, Missouri.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 23, at Deepwood Cemetery, in Nevada, Mo. A memorial gathering in Columbia will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Ewing was born in Memphis, Tenn., on March 12, 1932, the daughter of T. Patton Adams III and Margaret Goodman Adams. She graduated from the Hutchison School in Memphis in 1950 and Christian College in 1952. She received a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1954. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and was elected White Rose of Sigma Nu at MU.

She married Lynn M. Ewing Jr., of Nevada, on July 10, 1954, in Memphis. They lived in Birmingham, Ala., and St. Paul, Minn., then made their home in Nevada, for 45 years. Mrs. Ewing moved to Columbia, Mo., in 2001.

She was a charter member of the Diana's Club in Nevada and a member of PEO. She was a member of the MU Alumni Association and the Jefferson Club. She and Lynn were strong supporters of the University of Missouri, particularly the UMC School of Law. Mrs. Ewing loved classical music and was an accomplished pianist. She and her husband traveled extensively around the world. She was a Master Gardener.

Mrs. Ewing is survived by three children, daughters Margrace Buckler, and spouse Kevin, and Melissa Hall, and spouse David, all of Columbia, and son Lynn M. Ewing III, of Nevada, and seven grandchildren, Morgan Buckler, Mary Arnold and Joshua, Lauren and Corey Hall, and Andrew and Christopher Ewing.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Second Chance of Columbia or to the Peggy A. Ewing Opportunities for Excellence Fund in the College of Arts and Science at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
