Alice Lorena Cullison Gulliford

Alice Lorena Cullison Gulliford, died on May 29, 2009. She was born June 13, 1916, in Fort Scott, to Samuel Isaac and Emma Frances Goble Cullison. The family moved to Bronaugh, Mo., in 1920, where Alice attended school, graduating in 1934.

Alice married Donald Dean Gulliford on Dec. 3, 1938, in Arcadia, Kan., and they made their home in the Bronaugh area. They had one son Stephen Dean Gulliford.

Alice worked at the Missouri State School and Hospital for 17 1/2 years as a psychiatric nurse. After retiring from nursing, she worked seven years at Cottey College as the housekeeper for the president.

Mrs. Gulliford is survived by five grandchildren, Melanie Boyd, Stephanie Swearingen, Beau, Nate and Kelsi Gulliford; eight great-grandchildren, Lauren Silvola, Brooke Silvola, Jadyn Swearingen, Carter Swearingen, Kalen Bradley, Reagan Bradley, Logan Bradley, and Jordan Boyd.

Mrs. Gulliford's husband Don, son Steve, step-grandson Brad Chrisenberry, three brothers Erva, Floyd, and Lloyd Cullison and her parents, preceded her in death.

A funeral service was held at Evergreen Memorial Chapel on June 2, at 10:30 a.m. The family suggests contributions to the Gulliford Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Bronaugh R-VII School and the Community Christian Church, Nevada. Memorials can be made through Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
