Danny Ray Dickey

Danny Ray Dickey, 48, Moundville, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at his home in Moundville following an illness of several months. He was born July 30, 1960, in Pittsburg, Kan., to Daniel Blue Dickey and Zella Jane Crowe Dickey. He married Donna Murray on March 16, 1996, in Moundville, and she survives of the home.

Dan was born in Pittsburg, Kan., and grew up in Liberal, Mo. He worked as a police officer in Joplin as well as a bail bondsman in Lamar for a time, but has worked as an investigator for the Public Defenders Office for the past 20 years. Dan was a musician, and sang and played the steel guitar for Timberline Band. He was a member of the Eagles and Elks Lodges in Nevada. He loved the Rocky Mountains, horses, and deer and elk hunting. He was also a craftsman. Dan had recently made a rededication of his life to Christ.

Survivors in addition to his wife Donna include, five children, Derrick Dickey, Nashville, Mo., Jared Dickey and his wife Amber, Oronogo, Mo., Afton Bugg and her husband Donnie, Bronaugh, Sheena Dickey and Greg Bissell, Nevada, and Daniel Bley, Parsons, Kan.; five grandchildren, Izac McDermott, Keyton Dickey, Jordyn Dickey, Dallas Bugg and Brandon Bissell; one stepsister, Melissa England; one stepbrother, Rick Hurt; his father and stepmother, Daniel Blue Dickey and his wife Audine, Liberal, Mo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janie Crowe Dickey; one brother, Tony Dickey; grandparents, Charlie and Ruth Dickey, and Henry and Edna Crowe.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, July 31, at Hannon Freewill Baptist Church, Hannon, Mo., with Daniel Dickey officiating. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh. Friends may call now and until 8:30 a.m., on Friday, July 31, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, First Christian Church, or the Nevada Eagles or Elks Lodges in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
