Ivan Thayne (Bud) Nordyke Jr.

Ivan Thayne (Bud) Nordyke Jr., 66, of Channelview, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 25, 2009. Ivan was born on Oct. 14, 1942, in Butler, Mo., to Ivan and Margaret (Jenkins) Nordyke.

Ivan Is a former resident of Nevada, and a graduate of Nevada High School. Ivan has lived in the Channelview for 40 years and worked as a truck driver. When he wasn't working, he endjoyed fishing, classic cars, collecting things, watching John Wayne movies, and spending time with his family.

Ivan is preceded in death by his parents Ivan Sr. and Margret Wilburn; stepfather, Cecil Wilburn; and wife Catherine Nordyke.

He is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Newton, Karen Jefferies and husband Bruce, of Sheldon, Julie Hoover and husband Travis, of Channelview, Texas; son Troy Nordyke, of Channelview; sister Ann Engle and husband Jack, of Pasadena, Texas; grandsons Justin Byram and Tracy Byram and wife Ashley, of Sheldon; granddaughters Dalanie Hosford and Kristen Hoover, of Channelview, Texas; great-grandaughers Leah, Donna, and Tracy Lynn Byram, of Sheldon; and many friends and relatives.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Sterling White Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held today. Cremation to follow. Interment will be announced at a later date.
