George Stanley Simmons, 59, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 31, 1950, in Nevada, to Lloyd Thomas Simmons and Margie Inez Howell Simmons. He married Lowrean Lee Fletcher on May 26, 1972, in Nevada, Mo., and she survives of the home.

George was born and reared in Nevada and spent most all of his life here. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1968. He made his living as Human Resource Manager for Crane Company in Nevada, employed there for 30 years. George was a past board member of the Chamber of Commerce, Quality Products, and Nevada Country Club. He was also a member of the Optimist Club in Nevada. He attended the First Baptist Church. George enjoyed golfing, fishing, and his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Rene, of the home, he is survived by two daughters, Courtney Simmons, Nevada, Shauna Smith and her husband Scott, Raymore, Mo.; two grandchildren, Hayden and Avery Smith, Raymore; and one sister, Beverly Campbell and her husband Jack, Olathe, Kan. He was preceded in death by one half-brother Charles Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with pastor Steve Russ officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m., on Monday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to Heartland Hospice in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
