Christopher George Harris

Christopher George Harris, 19, Milo, Mo., passed away on Dec. 20, 2009, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born on Nov. 14, 1990, to Steven and Rhonda Harris. He was reared on his parents' farm in Milo.

Christopher graduated from Nevada High School in May of 2009. He was currently attending Pittsburzg State University majoring in construction management. He played four years of baseball at Nevada High School, and two years American Legion Baseball with the Nevada Red Sox. Christopher was a member of the Community Christian Church in Rich Hill, Mo. He loved the Lord and was saved in January of 2007.

Christopher had a large support system of friends and family. He enjoyed hanging out with friends during the weekends. He was always the life of the party. Christopher cared deeply for and cherished the time he had with his family. Alyssa, Christopher's niece, was his pride and joy. Most important to him was hunting with his father, taking care of his mother, singing with his family, and teasing his sisters, Stephanie and Lisa

Christopher was very talented. He had the best owl and turkey call in Vernon County. He loved to play for the Nevada Tiger Pride Marching Band. During the summer, he umpired for the Nevada Little League Baseball Organization, and was very serious about calling a fair game. Christopher was an avid sports player, and his parents loved to watch him catch the ball behind the plate. His best talent was coming to the aide of others day or night. On Dec. 20, 2009, he donated his organs to save others. Christopher's legacy will live on forever.

Survivors include his parents Steven Lee Harris and Rhonda Louise Demaree Harris, of the home in Milo; two sisters, Stephanie Breshears and her husband Alex, Milo, and Lisa Shouse and her husband Tyler, Nevada; one niece, Alyssa Breshears; grandparents, Beverly and Jack Fox, Milo, Roberta and George Harris, Milo, and Richard and Marilyn Yazel, Nevada; great-grandmother, Louis Hogan, Nevada; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by uncles, aunts, grandparents, and one cousin.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 26, at Pine Street Baptist Church, Nevada, with pastor Chad Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until 5 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 24, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Memorials may be given to the Chris Harris Memorial Fund in care of Ferry Funeral Home or Bank of America, Nevada.
