Richard Leroy "Dick" Marchant

Richard Leroy "Dick" Marchant was born Jan. 6, 1922, in Fort Scott, son of Newton Lunceford "Tom" and Kathryn Goetz Marchant.

On Sept. 23, 1940, Richard enlisted in the United States Army in Fort Scott. He served his country proudly during World War II until his honorable Discharge on Sept. 27, 1945.

He married Virginia Bland on Nov. 22, 1944. She preceded him in death.

On Sept. 28, 1970, he married Betty Lefever at Park City, Kan. They made their home in Anthony, Kan.

Dick worked for Western Insurance as a safety engineer for 35 years. He was a member of the Anthony Christian Church and the VFW.

On Feb. 26, Dick passed away at the home in Anthony. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Fred and Tom; a stepdaughter Marsha; and three brothers: Braden Marchant, Harold Marchant, and John Bloom.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Betty; son, Roy Wayne and wife Barbara; daughter Peggy Britt and husband Glenn; stepson, Kent Wilson and wife, Donna; stepdaughter, Nancy Curry and husband, Buford; daughter-in-law, Linda Marchant; one sister, Kay Marchant; and sister-in-law, Mary Lavon Marchant; 12 grandchildren, Rick Marchant, Robert Marchant, Gina Carol Marchant and Kim Jackson, Ginger Lindsey, Rebekka Sanchez, Kyle Sanchez, Tommy Marchant, Stephanie Ann Marchant and Troy Marchant; and many stepgrandchildren. Dick had 38 great-grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Interment was in Forest Park Cemetery Anthony, Kan. Memorials are suggested to Anthony Christian Church or to Hospice Care of Kansas.
