Kenneth Carl "Tug" Silvers, 79, of Nevada, passed away at 6:22 a.m., Friday, March 12, 2010, at Nevada Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Silvers was born Oct. 30, 1930, at Coalville, Kan., the son of Rollie and Rosa B. Davenport Silvers. He was a retired machinist who worked for General Motors in the Delco Battery Department. Tug was reared in Arcadia area and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1948. He also worked at Westinghouse and Bendix Corporation before going to work for General Motors. He lived in Kansas City, Mo., prior to moving to Nevada in 1998 and retiring.

He married Helen N. Buchanan on May 29, 1952, in Girard, Kan. Mrs. Silvers survives of the home.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Arcadia Christian Church, the Girard Masonic Lodge, the U.A.W Union in Kansas City, Mo., and the Girard American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, of the home; two daughters, Deanna Sola and her husband Jeff, of Olathe, Kan., and Pamela Newhouse and her husband Scott, of Aurora, Colo.; two sons, Kenneth Lee Silvers and his wife Shari, of Kansas City, Mo., and David Silvers and his wife, Barbara, of Nevada; two sisters, Eunice Burge, of Haysville, Kan., and Louise Kovacic, of Arma, Kan.; two brothers, Bill Silvers, of Grove, Okla., and Jay Silvers, of Wichita, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bernie and Fern Silvers; and sister Daphine Gobl.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, March, 16, at the Bedene Funeral Home, in Arma, with the Rev. Steve Cole officiating. Burial will be at the Fort Scott National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m., Monday, at the Bedene Funeral Home. Masonic rites will be at 6:30 p.m., Monday, at the Bedene Chapel.
