Lavon (Bonnie) Meek, 96, Fort Scott, died early Friday morning April 16, 2010, at the Mercy Health Center. She was born April 8, 1914, in Hiattville, Kan., the daughter of Jesse D. and Anna K. (Cordts) Warren. She married Wayne Dwight Meek on Dec. 29, 1935. They were married for 65 years. He preceded her in death Sept. 15, 2001.

Bonnie attended Fort Scott High School, graduation in 1932, and Fort Scott Junior College, graduating in 1934. After graduation, she worked in Topeka for the government. Together with her husband, she helped operate the Meek Grocery for 15 years.

She was a member of the First Church of God since 1948, and held several different offices in the church and Sunday School over the years.

Survivors include one son, Donald D. Meek and wife, Carolyn, of Louisburg, Kan.; one daughter, Connie Sue Billionis and husband Gary, of Fort Scott; one granddaughter, Marilyn Mueller and husband, Jason, of Paola, Kan.; five grandsons, Mark Meek, of Paola; Michael Meek and wife, Liz, of Bucyrus, Kan.; Tom Billionis and wife, Michelle, of Springfield, Mo.; Mathew Simpson and wife, Spring, of Overland Park, Kan.; and Nicholas Billionis, Pittsburg, Kan.; seven great-granddaughters, Briana Mueller, Molly and Hanna Meek, Marin, Grace and Amelia Billionis, and Kinley Simpson; four great-grandsons, Kaleb Mueller, Conner and Carson Meek, and Tarin Simpson; one niece and two nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Lavisa Smith.

Pastor Phil Wilson will conduct funeral services 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 20, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Church of God and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall Street, P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
