Alice Mae Nicholas, 82, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, following a brief illness. She was born on Oct. 24, 1927, in Renfrow, Okla., to Isaac Augustine Wright and Edna Mae Wilson Wright. She married Merle Eugene Nicholas on March 16, 1947, in Wichita, Kan., and he preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1982.

She was born and raised in Renfrow, Okla., and graduated from Caldwell, Kan., High School. Alice was a homemaker and lived most of her married life in Minneapolis, Minn. She moved to Nevada in 1983 and has spent the remainder of her life here. She loved needlework and was an avid gardener.

Survivors include one son, Max Eugene Nicholas, Nantucket, Mass.; two daughters, Linda Mae South, North Little Rock, Ark., and Louise Ann MacGregor, Midlothian, Texas; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Zoglmann and Marjorie Farra.

Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Nevada at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, May 19, with Rev. Greg Ferree officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, May 20, in Blankenship Cemetery, Rosalia, Kan., with the Rev. Scott MacGregor officiating.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Wycliffe Bible Translators in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
