Hugh Renfro

Hugh Renfro, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, departed this world on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at St. Luke's East Medical Center in Lee's Summit, Mo., surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 17 days.

Hugh was born Nov. 12, 1920, in Sundance, Wyoming, the son of Hollie and Mary Ethel (Gott) Renfro. He spent his younger years in the Nevada area.

On July 13, 1940, Hugh was united in marriage with Mary Edith Newlin in Fort Scott, and they continued to make their home in Nevada, until 1959 when they moved to Greenwood, Mo.

Hugh was an over-the road truck driver for Jack Cooper Transport from 1955 until 1981. After Hugh retired he and Mary moved to Pomme de Terre Lake in Pittsburg, Mo. In 2001 Hugh and Mary moved to Pleasant Hill, Mo., to be closer to family.

He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 41 of Kansas City.

Hugh was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years; Mary Edith Renfro; two sons, an infant, Mark Eugene Renfro, and Stephen Renfro on Nov. 13, 2006; two daughters; an infant, Patricia Irene and Betty June Long; four4 brothers; Ralph Renfro, John Renfro, William Renfro and Hollie Renfro Jr.; sisters; Florence Lively, Hazel Hardin, Betty Crosswhite and infant Mildred Renfro

He is survived by, one son; Jerry Renfro and wife Patricia of Kingsville, Mo.; one daughter; Joyce Graham and husband Jerry, of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; sister; Violet Smith of Nevada; six grandchildren; Christine Utley and husband Steve, Jonnathan Renfro, Scott Renfro, Bryan Renfro, Kristyl Cassaday and husband Jeremy and Hugh Graham; 11 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many, many friends.

Funeral Services are at 11 a.m. today at the Wallace Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, Mo., with the Rev. Kent Deubner officiating. Casket bearers will be Jerry Graham, Steve Utley, Jeremy Cassaday, Hugh Graham, Jonnathan Renfro, Scott Renfro and Bryan Renfro. Burial will be at 2 p.m., today, at the Moore Cemetery in Nevada. In memory of Hugh, the family requests donations to Pleasant Hill Fire and Rescue.
