Tommy Calvin Roark Sr., age 63, a resident of Fort Scott, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at his home. He was born Nov. 13, 1946, in Olean, Mo., the son of Luther Calvin Roark and Lura Ina Robinett Roark. He married Elda May Newman on May 26, 1990, at Fort Scott. Tommy had served with the United States Navy. He had been employed by Key Industries and Extrustions. He graduated from Devry Technical Institute in his mid-50s.

Survivors include his wife, Elda May Roark, of the home in Fort Scott; six sons, Tommy Calvin Roark Jr., and wife Fannie, Polo, Mo., Michael Anthony Roark, and wife, Christian, Olathe, Kan., Cecil John Beerbower, Manhattan, Kan., Jesse Eugene Beerbower and wife Stephanie, Fort Scott, Jeffrey Earl Beerbower and wife Anna, Uniontown, Kan., and Nathan Lee Beerbower and wife Ginger, Fort Scott; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Beerbower, Fort Scott, and Lynette Marie Roark, of the state of Minnesota; three brothers, Alan Gale Roark and wife Carmen and Larry Dale Roark and wife Terry, all of Kansas City, Kan., and Jearl Newman, of the home in Fort Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Michael Anthony Roark; two grandsons, Blake Beerbower and Timothy Bybee; and two great-grandsons, Austin Lukenbill and Daulton Newcome-Bybee.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 7, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 3 p.m., Monday at the Henley Cemetery, Henley, Mo. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Tommy Roark Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
