Betty McCoy

Betty McCoy, 85, Nevada, Mo., passed away Tuesday evening, July 13, 2010 at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada. She was born April 4, 1925 in Bakersfield, CA to Clarence L. "Dutch" Plummer and Doris Irene Sheddrick Plummer. She married Logan Ray McCoy on October 12, 1940 in Lamar. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1992.

Betty was raised in Vernon County and spent her life here. She attended the Metz School. She worked at the Nevada State Hospital for 30 years until her retirement in 1996. Betty was a member of the Metz Christian Church, and was a charter member of the Royal Neighbors of America in Metz.

Survivors include two sons, Larry McCoy, Rich Hill, and Dennis McCoy, Nevada; three granddaughters, Denise, Lori, and Lynn; two grandsons, Larry and Logan; two great-granddaughters, Kristyn and Korrin, and one great-grandson, Larry. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister; one daughter-in-law and one great-granddaughter.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, at the Rider Cemetery near Rich Hill, with Rev. Terry Mosher officiating. Friends may call now and until 9 a.m. on Saturday at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada, MO 64772.
