Wilma N. Howard, daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Lola Carmin (Smith) Cochran, was born Oct. 20, 1924, in Tiffin, Mo. She passed away Aug. 1, 2010, in Portland, Ore., at 85 years of age.

Wilma and her husband of 65 years, Clarence Howard, lived in Kansas City, Clinton and Harrisonville and, for the last 30 years, had resided in Appleton City, Mo., before she moved to Portland, Ore. recently. While living in Kansas City, she worked at Sears and later for the United States Quartermasters Depot during World War II. She enjoyed gardening and sewing and was active in several churches. Preceding Wilma in death were her parents, husband, a sister and brother.

Survivors include her two sons, Larry Howard and wife Dianne of Harrisonville, Mo., and Don Howard and wife Ann of Oregon City, Ore.; three grandchildren, Lee Howard of Rogersville, Mo., Brian Howard and Maggie Sullivan both of Portland, Ore.; one brother Merle Cochran of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; and one sister Earline Priemer of Independence.

Missouri Services for Wilma Howard will be Saturday, Aug. 7, at 2 p.m., at Hill and Son Funeral Home, Appleton City. Visitation will be held one hour before the service.
