Doris Maxine Jackson, 90, Nixa, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at her granddaughter's home in Nixa following a short illness. She was born in Harwood, Mo., to Bert Alumbaugh and Bessie Berniece Charles Alumbaugh. She married Ralph James Jackson on Sept. 23, 1942, in Harwood, and he preceded her in death.

Doris grew up in Harwood and was a member of the Harwood Methodist Church. She graduated from Walker High School in 1939. She worked for Nelly Don in Nevada for 26 years. Doris lived in El Dorado Springs, Mo., for 10 years before moving to Nixa in 1996 to be near her family.

Survivors include one son, Larry Jackson and his wife Connie, Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren, Doug Jackson, Nixa, Denita Miller, Nixa, David Jackson, Butler, Mo., Tina Holden, Ash Grove, Mo., Stacy Mitchell, Goodman, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Doug, Ashley, Amanda, Travis, Daniel, Jordan, and Caleb; and two great-great-grandchildren, Hunter and Alyssa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph in 1982; an infant son, Terry in 1950; one son, Jimmie Jackson, in 2005, and four brothers, J.C. Alumbaugh, Don Alumbaugh, Norman Alumbaugh, and Lester Alumbaugh.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 20, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Platt officiating. Interment will follow in Greenmound Cemetery, Harwood. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
