Mary Jane (Janie) Roden, Nevada, died on Aug. 26, 2010, from sudden illness. She was born to Edward V. Zagst and Doris M. van Order Zagst on April 18, 1925, in El Dorado, Ark. She was married on Feb. 5, 1982, to Robert A. Roden, who survives of the home.

Although born in Arkansas, she was raised in Texas. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in Houston, Texas, at the age of 16. From there, she attended college at Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison, Kan., where she met her first husband, John W. McReynolds. They married and had nine children together. They moved to Nevada in 1958, where she has resided since. Mary Jane was a long-time member of the Diana's, served on the board of Community Outreach, was a member of the Nevada Country Club and was a member of the board at one time, was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed performing in the Nevada Community Theatre. Many folks remember her as "Dolly" when she performed the leading role in the Broadway musical, "Hello Dolly" several years ago. Mary Jane was a devout Catholic and was a long-time cantor at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nevada.

In addition to her husband, Bob, she is survived by five daughters, Brooke McReynolds of Queensland, Australia, Louise McReynolds of Chapel Hill, N.C., Alice McReynolds of Palm Springs, Calif., Betsy McReynolds and her husband, David Litten, of Nevada, Rebecca McReynolds and her partner, Maureen Enos, of Tucson, Ariz.; and three sons, Michael McReynolds and his wife, Ginger, of Fort Worth, Texas, Douglas McReynolds and his wife Tamara, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Christopher McReynolds and his wife, Liz, of New Vernon, N.J.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Humerickhouse, of Piney Bay, Ark., and her granddaughter, Clair Elaine Redden, of Corpus Cristi, Texas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 30, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Nevada, with the Rev. Justin Hoye officiating.

Friends may call now and until 8 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 29, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

A Rosary service will be held at the funeral home, Sunday, at 6:30 p.m. Following, the family will receive friends between 7 and 8 p.m., also at the funeral home.
