Hazel N. Woods, 96, Nevada, passed away Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada, following a sudden illness. She was born Jan. 29, 1914, in Milo, Mo., to William Frederick Garland and Roxie Rebbecca Adeline Peacock Garland. She was married in 1952, to William Elton Woods in Bentonville, Ark., and he preceded her in death Oct. 23, 1981.

Mrs. Woods was born in rural Milo, and lived her entire life in the Nevada, Vernon County area. She was employed for 11 years as a cook at the Jefferson School in Nevada. She loved playing bingo and dancing, which she continued until her 94th birthday. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and great-great-great-grandmother.

Survivors include two daughters, Neoma Johnson and her husband, John, Kansas City, Mo., and Linda Holland, Nevada; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 37 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ethel Ritchey, Alsea, Ore. In addition to her husband William, she was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Lorine Harreld and Alberta Loiselle; one son, William Lawrence Stewart; one granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, with the Rev. Shelby Brandt officiating. Interment will follow at Moore Cemetery in Nevada.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon between 1 and 2 p.m., prior to the funeral service.
