Anna Mae Cooper, 72, a resident of Arma, Kan., died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at the Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott. She was born June 19, 1938, in Nevada, Mo., the daughter of Emery Theodore Phillips and Grace Belle Proctor Phillips. She married Darrel G. Wise and he preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1973. She later married Clarence William "Bill" Cooper on July 5, 1985, at Miami, Okla. Anna Mae enjoyed horses, music and dancing as well as cooking and fishing.

Survivors include her husband, Bill, of the home in Arma; her children, Gracie Castleberry and husband, Steve, Rantoul, Kan., Ruby Walters and husband, Charles, Denver, Colo., Retta Huston and husband, Lon, Cheyenne, Wyo., Donna Howard and husband, Tom, Caney, Kan., Ricky Wise, Jimmy Wise, and Becky Bishop all of Nevada. Also surviving is a step-son, Bill Cooper, Mulberry, Kan.; a sister, Margaret Cox, Fort Scott, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Cecil Phillips.

The Rev. Travis Cox conducted funeral services at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 22, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in the Lath Branch Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until service time, Monday, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society c/o Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O.
