Kenneth Clark Ayers, long-time resident of Owasso, Okla., died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, in Tulsa, Okla., at the age of 74 years. He was born on June 9, 1936, in Walker, Mo., to Oren Dale and Zola Mae (Clark) Ayers. He was reared and educated in Walker, and graduated with the Walker High School Class of 1954. He continued his education at Fort Scott Junior College in Fort Scott, Kan. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Army. He was married on May 2, 1961, in Elizabethtown, Ky., to Mazie Steincross. Ken spent most of his working life as a cigar salesman. He and Mazie moved to the Owasso area in 1976, where they raised their family. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including hunting, playing cards, spending time with his family and friends and especially golfing.

Loving family members include his wife of more than 49 years, Mazie; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and her husband, Mike Walker, of Ovilla, Texas, and Kari and her husband, Scott Levy, of Frisco, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Kendell and his wife, Michelle Ayers, of Yukon, Okla.; four grandchildren, Austin, Averi, Collin and Cameron; one brother and sister-in-law, Keith and his wife, Beverly Ayers, of Nevada, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 9--10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 31, at the Mowery Funeral Service chapel in Owasso, with memorial service beginning at 10 a.m., with Dub Steincross and the Rev. Andrew Rankin officiating. Committal services and interment were held at Lone Elm Cemetery in Rogers County, Okla.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in memory of Kenneth Clark Ayers be made to the Rejoice Christian School Golf Team c/o Wally Poplin/Joyce Deason, 12200 East 86th Street North, Owasso, OK 74055.

Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service, Owasso.
