Jimmie Doris Hankey, 75, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at home with her family. She was born Oct. 22, 1935, in Rogersville, Mo., to Howard Leslie "Bood" and Esther Leah (Tuter) Collison. Jimmie was married to Howard E. Hankey and was a member of the Mentor Baptist Church, Rogersville.

After attending Southwest Baptist College, Southwest Missouri State University, and Central Missouri State University, Jimmie achieved her goal as a highly respected high school English teacher and guidance counselor for 34 years in Missouri schools.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, June Franson and JoEtta Ewing. She is survived by her son, Les Hankey of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Joanne Dedrick and her husband, John, of Sheldon, Mo., and Gloria Johnson of Sheldon, Mo.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Jeanette Stone of Jefferson City, Mo.

Services will be held July 9, at 10 a.m., in the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, Mo., with the Rev. Elvin Winans officiating. The family would like to invite friends and family to visit one hour before the service from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.
