Charles L. "Chick" Shupe

Charles L. "Chick" Shupe, 80, Nevada, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at Barone Alzheimer's Care Center, Nevada. He was born on June 21, 1931, in Buckner, Mo., to Paul S. Shupe and Fern Downs Shupe. He married Wilma Lee Faubion on Dec. 16, 1950, in Lamar, Mo., and she survives of the home.

Chick attended El Dorado Springs High School. After his marriage, he and Wilma moved to Nevada in 1952. He went to work at Foremost Dairy for several years and then was employed by the Missouri State Highway Department. He spent the remainder of his years being self-employed, dump trucking and raising cattle on their farm. Chick was a member of the First Christian Church of Nevada and the Masonic Lodge No. 292 of Lamar.

In addition to his wife, Wilma, Chick is survived by two sons, both of Nevada, Ken Shupe and his wife, Alice, and Doug Shupe and his wife, Lynne; three granddaughters, Jill Smith and her husband, Brian, Nevada, Ashley Forkner and her husband, Nathan, Richards, Mo., and Whitney Shupe, Nevada; five great-grandchildren, Bronson and Adison Smith, Mason and Rhett Forkner, and Jackson Montgomery; one brother, John Shupe, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Wathena Clow and Pauline Franciso; and one brother, William Shupe.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 12, at Moore Cemetery, Nevada, with the Rev. Hubert Fox officiating. Friends may call now and until 10 a.m., Friday, at Ferry Funeral Home and the family receives friends from 6-7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 11, at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made in his memory to the Bronaugh Christian Church or the Vernon County Youth Fair in care of Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
