Karen Jantz was born to Tobe J. and Lois Koehn on May 5, 1952, at Burns, Kan. She peacefully departed this life on Oct. 12, 2011, at her home near El Dorado Springs, Mo., reaching the age of 59 years.

Karen enjoyed a happy childhood. At a young age she gave her heart to the Lord. She was baptized by her father into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on Dec. 5, 1965. Many will remember her as having a fun loving and outgoing personality.

On Nov. 7, 1976, she was married to Jim Jantz at Burns, Kan. The first part of their married life was spent in the Burns community where their two daughters were born. In August of 1993, the family moved to the Walker, Mo., area.

She loved to sing and often found encouragement and solace in song. Her artistic ability was enjoyed in many aspects of her homemaking. Although life brought some deep valleys, we have no doubt that she came to a victorious end. Her beautiful spirit before her passing is a comfort to everyone.

Those left to treasure fond memories are her husband, Jim, of the home; two daughters, Laura and husband, Stan Dirks, of Walker; Ellie and husband, Ty Unruh, of Halstead, Kan.; two grandchildren, Ava and Jude Unruh; three sisters, Jane and husband, Milferd Dirks, of Halstead, Kan., Ethel Jantz and Lavonne and husband, Lowell Koehn, of Burns, Kan.; and other relatives and friends. Her parents; a brother-in-law; and a nephew preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Living Faith Mennonite Church, Walker, Mo., with John Becker, Ron Koehn, and Robert Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Living Faith Mennonite Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14, at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
