Leland Earl Cady, 88, of Sheldon, Mo., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Cady was born on June 26, 1923, in Sheldon to Thomas Cady and Lenora E. Stockdale Cady. He married Sylvia C. Ambler on Aug. 30, 1943, in Lamar, Mo., and she survives of the home.

Leland grew up in Sheldon and at the age of 13 he moved to California with his family where he lived for eight years. He then lived and worked in Kansas City, Mo., for 15 years where he worked as manager of Mutual Auto Parking Stations. Mr. Cady then farmed in the Kincaid, Kan., area for 34 years before moving back to Sheldon in 1998. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sheldon, Mo.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Sylvia, include one son, Thomas Cady, Harrisonville, Mo.; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James Cady; one daughter, A. J. Short; one granddaughter, Jamie; and two brothers, Ivan Cady and Jessie Cady.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Lynn Quist officiating. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
