Mary Lou Keyser, 74, of Indianola, Iowa, died suddenly Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at home.

She was born March 24, 1937, to William Oran and Iona Harrell McGregor in Detroit, Mich.

Mary Lou graduated from Denby High School in Detroit, Baptist Missionary Training School in Chicago, and Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City. In 1962, Mary Lou married Dr. H.M. Keyser at Pottsville, Penn. The couple made their home in Pine Grove, Penn., and later in Nevada, Mo., and raised three children. Mary Lou worked as a secretary and in workforce development, farmed, was a published writer, and was ordained to ministry in the United Methodist Church and was pastor of several churches in northwest and southwest Missouri. She retired to Indianola and there served as organist at Farmers Chapel and was a member of P.E.O.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, Thomas (Marcia) Keyser of Des Moines, Iowa, Linda (Richard) Rickman of Duncan, Okla., and Todd (Sarah) Keyser of Indianola; grandchildren Paul and Luke Keyser, Ellen and William Keyser, Jacob, Zachary and Claire Rickman; her brothers, Arvin McGregor and Fred (Carol) McGregor; and sister, Sally Grammer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; her parents; her brother, Ferman McGregor; an infant brother; and a granddaughter, Regan Rickman.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Services are at 10:30 a.m., today, at Farmers Chapel. Burial of cremains will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 30, at Moore Cemetery, Nevada, Mo.
