Cecil Edward Waite

Cecil Edward Waite, 87, passed away Feb. 13, 2012. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, Mo. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. Graveside services and interment will be at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, Mo. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts Heart of America Council, 10210 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131.

Cecil was born May 23, 1924, in Nevada, to Louis Martin and Lizzie Mable (Woods) Wait. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps and worked as a bus operator for the Kansas City ATA. Cecil was a member the Boys Scouts, the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, Roanoke Christian Church, 8th Air Force Historical Society, and the 1287th Transit Union.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mae Waite; his parents; a sister, Etta Clark; brothers, Richard and Eugene Wait. Survivors include his children, Gary E. Waite, Debra D. Boyer, Christopher G. Waite, Heather B. Waite and Neal R. Waite; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Louis M. Wait Jr.
