Bettie Jean Dawson, 82, Richards, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., following a brief illness. She was born April 13, 1929, in Vernon County, Mo., to Albert H. Streich and Martha Meier Streich. She was married Nov. 29, 1947, for 64 years to Roy L. Dawson and he survives of the home.

Mrs. Dawson was reared in Walker, Mo., and graduated from Nevada High School in 1947. She worked for the MFA Co-op Association, numerous sale barns, and the First National Bank in Nevada, in addition to being a farm wife. She and Roy lived on a farm near the Richards community for the past 64 years. Bettie was a member of Rinehart Christian Church. She enjoyed watching cooking shows, tennis, and golf on television. She loved to sing and play the piano.

In addition to her husband, Roy, she is survived by two daughters, Vicky Albright and her husband, Terry, Kansas City, Mo., and Patty Hough and her husband, Mike, Peculiar, Mo.; five grandchildren, Anne Albright, Tara Boyles, Brandy Teubner, Jeanne Derr and Cale Swarnes; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Ricky Walles officiating. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, and the family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, Feb. 25, between 1 and 2 p.m., prior to the funeral service.
