Lois Audrey Rutledge

Lois Audrey Rutledge, 88, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Moore-Few Care Center, following a brief illness. She was born June 11, 1923, in Milo, Mo., to Earl Edward Garrett and Viola Jones Garrett. She married Marvin "Hap" Rutledge on Jan. 31, 1945, in Fort Scott, Kan., and he preceded her in death on March 9, 2002.

Lois was born and raised in Vernon County and spent all of her life here. She worked for many years as an LPN and also helped her husband in the trucking and cattle hauling business. She attended the First Baptist Church and served as a volunteer at Nevada Regional Medical Center for many years.

Survivors include one son, Gearald Rutledge, Belton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Garrett, Cle Elum, Wash.; several cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Walker and David; two sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 15, at Ferry Funeral Home with Steve Russ officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
