Helen A. Ogburn

Helen A. Ogburn, 94, Nevada, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born Nov. 14, 1917, in Prague, Okla., to Walter H. Hurn and Bertha Gray Hurn. She was married June 29, 1936, in Cheney, Kan., to Jack Ogburn and he preceded her in death March 14, 2008.

Mrs. Ogburn was born in Oklahoma, but lived in a variety of locales as a youth. She graduated from Cheney High School in Cheney, Kan. She and her husband moved to Nevada in 1967 and she has resided here since. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Nevada and was a very active member. Helen was also well known for her talents with crafts and gardening.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Donald Ogburn and his wife, Roberta, Nevada; one daughter, Joan Carroll and her husband, Norman, Martinsville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Timothy Carroll and his wife, Tammy, Spring Hill, Kan., Teron Carroll and his wife, Linda, Clarksville, Ark., Cynthia Schulte and her husband, Thomas, Nevada, and Kendall Ogburn and his wife Tammy, Nevada; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edward Hurn, Nampa, Idaho. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 17, at the Church of the Nazarene, Nevada, with the Rev. Mike Satterlee officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Friends may call now and until 8 p.m., Friday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The family will receive friends at the Church of the Nazarene in Nevada, Saturday, between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., prior to the funeral service.
