A 40-year-old Nevada man was arrested on charges of domestic assault and resisting arrest on May 26, after he fled the scene of a reported domestic assault that took place in the 400 block of West Walnut, Nevada.

According to a press release from the Nevada Police Department, officers were called to the home, where there was reportedly an assault in progress and were told that the suspect, Lavern S. Hill Jr., was attempting to flee the area in a white Jeep with the 39-year-old female victim in the car.

The first responding officer saw the vehicle leaving the scene and tried to stop it as it sped off at a high rate of speed and the press release said the officer was able to make positive visual identification of the man, who quickly eluded capture. A search for the Jeep followed and the car was located a short time later, abandoned in the 900 block of West Floral. The suspect had already fled the area on foot; but police located the victim, who had suffered minor injuries.

Officers continued their investigation, secured evidence and received felony arrest warrants on the fugitive. After receiving a tip from a concerned citizen, Nevada police and Vernon County Sheriff's Office personnel arrested Hill without incident in the 300 block of North Oak.

Hill is charged with one felony count of second degree domestic assault and one felony count of resisting arrest. He is being held at the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond for these charges as well as warrants for other unrelated criminal acts, the press release said.
