Ronald Earl Parks, 66, resident of rural Fort Scott, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at his home. He was born Jan. 6, 1946, in Fort Scott the son of Earl William Parks and Hattie Dorene Davis Parks.

Ron was a 1964 graduate of Fort Scott High School. He graduated from Pittsburg State University. He married Delphine Snyder Hill on Sept. 18, 1976, in Fort Scott. He had worked for the Red Barn Restaurant in high school. Ron owned H & H Realty Company and later Parks Realty Company. He also owned the Parks Feed Store and Treasure Barn. Prior to retirement because of health, he worked for Bruce Marble and Granite as well as tending cattle on his farm. He was a member of the Community Christian Church. He loved going to grandchildren's youth activities and working with the Class of 1964 reunions.

Survivors include his wife, Del, of the home; one son, Justin Parks and wife, Gale, Nevada, Mo.; two daughters, Shelly Huss and husband, Matt, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Hilery Payne and husband, Logan, Springdale, Ark. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Lucile Snyder, Fort Scott; a sister, Pat Payne, Fort Scott; brothers-in-law, Eldred Snyder, Nevada and Floyd Snyder and wife, Jeanette, West Richland, Wash.; five grandchildren, Mannix, Abigale, Minka-Szabella, Tyler and Moxley; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Connie Miller Parks.

The Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, in the Community Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to either Fort Scott High School Class of 1964, Community Christian Church or HPA for the Old Congregational Church, and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
