Robert Eugene Whitworth

Robert Eugene Whitworth, 66, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Mo., following a brief illness. He was born June 7, 1946, in Weaubleau, Mo., to Omer C. Whitworth and Roberta E. Streiner Whitworth.

Robert was raised in Moundville and graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1965. He worked various places in Nevada, including Crane Plumbing for 10 years, H.U.D.D., and for the past eight years at Moore-Few Care Center in housekeeping. Robert was a lifelong resident of Vernon County.

Survivors include three sons, Timothy Whitworth, Nevada, Danny Whitworth and his wife, Christy, Moundville, and Dusty Whitworth and his wife, Andrea, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Gail Wysong and Patsy Ann Campbell and her husband, John, all of Nevada, Mo.; one brother, Clifford Whitworth and his wife, Jean, Moundville; his "loving companion," Debbie Austin and her family, Nevada, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gary.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Ed Post officiating. A private family committal service will be held at a later date at Welborn Cemetery, Moundville, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home prior to the service.
