The Nevada High School freshman boys' basketball squad traveled to Bolivar, Mo., and came up short by a final score of 39-34.

Tigers head coach Kyle Talley said it took his squad "a quarter or so" to figure out how to combat Bolivar's 1-3-1 zone defense. Once they did, however, the Tigers came back from down 14 at the end of three quarters to pull within four with less than a minute, but that's as close as they got.

"We played with a lot of passion and energy. I'm very pleased with this outing," Talley said. "I felt like we played well enough to win on the scoreboard, but it didn't happen tonight. We had numerous guys come away with a successful trip to Bolivar."

Andrew Heathman led the offensive effort for Nevada with 11 points, followed by Derek O'Dell and Chaden Brandt with eight apiece. Levi Palmer chipped in three, while Cooper Smith and Dalton Bruce each added three.
