The Nevada eighth-grade basketball teams swept Joplin East Thursday night, rolling to a 60-25 victory in the A game and a 38-15 conquest in the B game.

"Patrick Ferry had a huge game tonight," noted coach Tyson Beshore. Ferry collected 23 points, 17 rebounds, and six blocked shots to lead Nevada.

"Matt Sommer really passed the ball well and ended up with 10 assists," Beshore said. Sommer added 13 points as well and John Quitno had seven points.

"Tyler Ketterman and Jacob Johnson really played hard on the defensive end," Beshore said. They both had seven rebounds and five steals.

"We played very unselfish tonight and we were passing up open 10-foot shots for open 5-foot shots," summed up the coach.

In the B game, Cameron Diaz and Thomas Prewitt led the offense with 20 and 10 points, respectively.

"Peyton Walker and Justin Hurst played very aggressive defense tonight and our entire team rebounded well. I am really pleased with how we are passing the ball on the offensive end of the court.

"Blake Majors continues to rebound well every time he is on the court," concluded Beshore.
