Tiger grapplers fare well at Seneca

One individual title and two second-place finishes led the Nevada Tigers wrestling team to a sixth-place finish over the weekend in the 50th annual Seneca Invitational wrestling tournament.

Seneca won the team title with 390 points and Blair Oaks was second with 330. Bentonville, Ark., placed third, while McDonald County took fourth, Jefferson City finished fifth and Nevada was sixth.

Dayton Miller took first at 106 pounds with a pin of Diamond's Ethan King in 3 minutes, 40 seconds, in the finals. Slade Stiles was second at 120 after an 11-6 loss to Seneca's Will Roark and Scott Swink was second at 170 after a loss to Carl Junction's Calvin Bremmerkamp.

Daxtyn Osburn took third at 132 with a pin of Seneca's Jesse Rhoades in the consolation match and Johnathan Ireland was third at 152 after a 4-2 decision win over Diamond's Jordan Douglas in the third-place match. Colby Smith was fourth at 220 after a 6-3 loss to Carl Junction's Taylor Dawdy in the third-place match.

The Tiger grapplers conclude their regular-season schedule with a dual at Carl Junction Tuesday and a Senior Night dual against Buffalo Thursday at Nevada High School.
