Northeast Vernon County's basketball girls celebrated Homecoming Friday night with a 49-14 victory over visiting Calhoun, giving them a split of games during the week. Earlier, NEVC had come up just shy against Halfway, 49-37.

Friday night's victory was never in doubt as the Lady Knights held Calhoun to four points in each of the first, second and fourth quarters, and allowed only two points in the third.

The visitors managed just four field goals in the game against the NEVC defense.

Camille Buttorff led the Lady Knights with 23 points. Ryann Ford added 10, Shelby Wilkins six, Payton Hays four, and Haley Hays, Jennifer Stutzman and Erin Kitsmiller each had two.

Against Halfway, NEVC trailed, 15-7, at the first break and 26-20, at halftime. A 20-11 difference in the third quarter clinched the outcome, though the Knights doubled the Halfway scoring in the final period.

Buttorff fired in 20 to pace NEVC. Ford, Payton Hays and Haley Hays added four, Karleigh Conner three and Erin Kitsmiller two.

Three players finished in double figures for Halfway.
