NEVC mock accident demonstration

Erin Kitsmiller, 17, a senior at Northeast Vernon County High School at Walker, awaits medical attention while one of her classmates lies "dead" and another seriously injured at a mock accident scene meant to illustrate the dangers of drunken or distracted driving.

Dustin Goins of Nevada tells NEVC students about his brother Jeremy, who died in a 1994 traffic accident at Harwood, and the long-term effect of Jeremy's death on his family. The Goins family donated the scoreboards and backboards in the school gymnasium.

Amber Bogardus, 15, is prepared for St. John's MedFlight evacuation Nov. 14 at a mock accident scene behind NEVC High School, where emergency personnel handled two "fatalities" and injuries to six teenagers. With Amber is flight nurse Stacey Robertson.
