Vernon County Historical Society volunteers Dick Meisenheimer, Joe Johnson and Don McQueen razed a small brick building known as the "Summer Kitchen" next to the Bushwhacker Jail Nov. 30 in Nevada. It was used in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to cook for prisoners.

The building was razed because it had become dangerous and would have been too expensive to restore, Vernon County Historical Society officials said. -
