Burton pleads guilty to felonies

by Michael Glover Herald-Tribune Fort Scott, Kan. -- A 26-year-old Fort Scott man pleaded guilty on Thursday to two felony counts of conspiracy to commit robbery stemming from a robbery against two men last July. Moses L. Burton faces a maximum sentence of five years and three months on the two charges in which he pleaded guilty. The minimum punishment is one year and eight months in jail, according to court documents. The fine on both counts will not exceed $100,000...

Hi neighbors. I guess American grown wheat isn't good enough to make dog biscuits out of. Now we buy wheat from China. I'm sure this was an oversight and not intentional. But how did it happen? Where were the safeguards to prevent this mistake? Visiting family

A couple of weeks ago, my aunt and her granddaughter came to visit. As part of that visitation, we made a trip to Bolivar to see my youngest son and his children, all girls, ranging in age from 12 to almost three. Since we arrived in the middle of the afternoon during their spring break, we had a good time visiting with my son while waiting for mom to return from work. ...

Turkey hunt a great experience for youth

The annual Spring Youth Turkey Season was held last weekend, which was much earlier this year to avoid a conflict with Easter weekend. Instead of opening nine days before the regular season as usual, this year's opening of the Youth Hunt started on the last weekend in March. This was the first of only two weekends during the next 20 years that the season will open in March...
