August Rasmussen Jr., 88, of Fort Scott, formerly of Moundville, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, following a brief illness. He was born Feb. 25, 1919, in Arthur County, Neb., to August Rasmussen Sr., and Nanna Marie Christiansen Rasmussen, He married Avis E. Morreli, on Sept. 27. 1941, in Alameda, Calif. She preceded him in death on May 19, 1998...

Kristen E. Long, of Fort Scott, would like to announce the birth of her son, Tilk Jaymeson Long. Tilk was born at 11:19 p.m., on Dec. 26, 2007, at Menorah Medical Center, in Overland Park, Kan. He weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces, and measured 19 inches. Grandparents are, Michael and Michelle Cox, of Fort Scott, and Hayden Long, of Nevada...
