Sept. 16 An accident occurred at 6:01 p.m., on U.S. Highway 54 and Lynn, involving a westbound school bus driven by Douglas L. Meister, of Lamar, Mo., and an eastbound pickup, driver unknown. Local emergency response agencies are finding themselves in the same boat as all the Vernon County residents struggling to cope with stagnant income and high gasoline costs.
