Sarah Jane Bailey, 87, of Nevada, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Moore-Few Care Center. Sarah was born on May 7, 1921, to Jay Monroe and Laura Bell Beaver. She was welcomed by brothers, Floyd and Lester Beaver and one sister, Ruby Burnett. In the 1940's, she married Roy Junior Minnis and they had two sons, Kenneth Gene and Victor Lee Minnis. In 1964, Sarah married Henry Bailey and through this union along with Joe Edwin Bailey, they became family...

Leoti May Clark, age 76, of Nevada, died on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Christian Health Care in Nevada. She was born on Aug. 15, 1932, in rural Cedar County to Claude Henry Miller and Lila Mae Coale Miller. She was married in 1952 to Orvan Highley and to this union her three children were born. On May 27, 1986, she was married to Delbert Lynn Clark and he preceded her in death on July 7, 2007...

Edna Irene Ramage, 79, of Rich Hill, passed away, Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at her home. Edna was born April 3, 1929, to Robert and Grace (Cramer) Spawn, in Amoret, Mo. She attended first and second grades in Mulberry Country School, later moving to Rich Hill, and graduating from Stotesbury High School...

Jennifer and Travis Eaton, of Nevada, and big sister Peyton, are proud to announce the birth of their son and baby brother Hunter Layne Eaton. Hunter was born at 2:08 p.m., on Oct. 31, 2008, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. He weighed 5 pounds, 4 ounces, and measured 17 3/4 inches...

Nov. 3 An accident occurred at 12:53 p.m., at Wal-Mart parking lot, involving a pickup driven by Johnnie L. Colvin, of Nevada, and a SUV driven by Velma L. Chastain, of Bronaugh, Mo. No injuries were reported. An accident occurred at 4:22 p.m., at Nevada Auto Mall lot, invovling a pickup that left the scene after backing into a light pole owned by Nevada Auto Mall. No injuries were reported. The case is still under investigation...

The Nevada Eagles have been busy. They brought the state convention to Nevada, now they have done something even more impressive and they've done it in record time. Larry Scism and Dave Jones spearheaded the effort along with several others. A new chapter of Eagle Riders has been formed and is growing fast...

When Jack Wallace enlisted in the Air Force in July of 1964, he was sent for basic training to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. The heat was terrific in July and August, but he figured he was being trained for the tropics or some place hot. But after special training at Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, he was sent to Elmendorf Air Force base in Anchorage, Alaska!...

The Cottey College Comets completed their volleyball season Nov. 7 and 8, at the NJCAA Region XVI tournament with a postseason record of 1-1. A new season starts this Saturday. Not only is it the first day of the firearms deer season, but it is also the beginning of the open enrollment period for Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription coverage.
