Nevada Regional Medical Center ended the year on firm ground this year. The financial results will be verified when a regular audit is performed. CFO Cindy Buck said that the results were not as impressive as last year. "The FYE financials were not as impressive as last year as anticipated with our country's economic downturn," Buck said. "An in-depth analysis was provided to the board in the board packet which discusses differences from budget and from the previous fiscal year."...

San Luis Obispo, Calif. -- A 24-year-old man from San Miguel has been arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter charges in connection with the July 9, 2009 shooting death of his wife Tasha Dawn Norris. Tasha Norris was the granddaughter of Farrel and Phyllis Offret of Nevada and the sister of Lacee Wood of Moundville...

The Internal Revenue Service has announced its first successful prosecution related to fraud involving the first-time homebuyer credit and warned taxpayers to beware of this type of scheme. On Thursday, July 23, a Jacksonville, Fla.-tax preparer, James Otto Price III, pled guilty to falsely claiming the first-time homebuyer credit on a client's federal tax return. Price faces the possibility of up to three years in jail, a fine of as much as $250,000, or both...
