A one vehicle crash that occurred in an alley near 414 Walnut Street, Nevada, about 10:30 on Saturday night knocked out a transformer and power to several homes and businesses. A car driven by Ryan K. Mauer struck a utility pole in the alley and caused the outage. Mauer suffered "evident-not disabling injuries," according to a Nevada Police Department press release...

A couple out looking for their dog Friday night found a structure on fire instead. Jeffrey and Christy Cox were walking on Ashland in Nevada when Christy first noticed the smoke; but at first, it seemed of little consequence. "We were walking past the house and I thought I saw something like a barbecue," Cox said. "After we passed the house I noticed fire in the window. My husband went back and knocked on the door but no one answered so we called police."...

Dear Editor, The recent article concerning my Peace Corps service in Ukraine, though written with the best of intentions, contains a gross misquotation that utterly undermines the spirit of Peace Corps and my service therein. Toward the end of the article, I supposedly made remarks about my former home of Gorlovka. The quote "mention Gorlovka to a Ukrainian and you'll get a facial response of disgust and bewilderment," did not originate from my tongue!...
