Doris Faye Allen, 58, Bolivar, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Parkview Healthcare in Bolivar. Doris was born Dec. 31, 1951, in Butler, Mo., to Gordon and Gladys (Fitzpatrick) Plummer. She was a homemaker. Survivors include daughers, Jennifer Lynn Crowder and husband, Kevin Kerr of Lawrence, Kan., Christina Marie Allen of Nevada, and Lorinda Kay Wheeler and husband, Jonathan, of Gladstone, Mo.; her mother, Gladys Wichael, Bolivar; sisters, Treva Jones, Rebecca McCown, Wanda Randolph and Edith Wichael; five grandchildren, Shelbie, Nathaniel, Terryn, Shaun, and Olivia.. ...

Hospital sees financial upturn

Nevada Regional Medical Center's Chief Financial Officer Cindy Buck is optimistic. That's because she had some good news for the NRMC Board of Trustees during the board's regular meeting Tuesday night. Fort Scott will hold its 12th Airport Day on Satur-day, Sept. 11, at the Municipal Airport with a full day of free activities planned. The Nevada Lady Tigers tennis team earned their first win of the season Tuesday as they took on the Lady Cubs of Monett. In a match that was a nail-biter from the start, the Lady Tigers pulled out the win by the narrowest of margins, 5-4.
