On Sunday, Feb. 27, family members, friends and volunteers with Missouri Missing will host a Tribute Rally for Cheryl Ann Kenney who has been missing for 20 years. Kenney was reported missing from Nevada on Feb. 27, 1991, after closing the convenience store she worked at on Austin Boulevard. Kenney's family and friends have not heard from her or had any contact with her since that date...

The Nevada Police Department has announced the arrest of a second suspect in the May 24, 2009, murders of two Nevada teens, Annie Reed, 18 and Kylie Leyva, 14. According to a press release from the department, on Feb. 17 the Nevada Police Department conducted additional interviews relating to the murders and information gained during "the investigation has resulted in the arrest of Leviathon Dipman, 20, of Nevada."...

City, county and township representatives from across Vernon County converged on the second floor of the county courthouse on Friday afternoon to meet with representatives of the state and federal emergency management agencies. The meeting was initiated by SEMA representative Candace Adams regarding the declaration of Vernon County as eligible to receive disaster relief funds to offset the cost of snow removal during the storm that dropped up to 18 inches of snow on the county earlier this month.. ...

The Northeast Vernon County Knights were on the road once again Wednesday, Feb. 16, to take on the Montrose Blue Jays. In the boys game the Knights struggled to get anything going and were downed by a score of 57 - 38. Leading the Knights in scoring was Grant Davis with 15 and Jacob Bell with 8. Above, senior Sam Jones guards his opponent. Friday was the long-awaited and much-postponed Homecoming game, and the Knights gained a victory over the Eagles, 77-59, in a fast-paced contest...

The Cottey College Comets had a barn-burner of a final home game as they defeated the nationally ranked St. Louis Community College-Meramec Magic on Saturday 67-58. "They played gutsey today," Comets coach Dave Ketterman, said. The Comets beat Meramec despite being short-handed with injuries. ...
