The Nevada Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team defeated Joplin South 53-41 in the third place game of the Tri-County Tournament on Feb. 17. Matt Sommer led the way with 24 points and Tyler Ketterman added 13. "We played one of our best games of the season," Coach Robert Miner said. "After the first period we were up 17-2 and at half we were up 32-14."...

In the last home game of the season, Northeast Vernon County senior Grant Davis hit a three-pointer in the third quarter of the game against Rich Hill to reach a career high of 1,500 points. The Rev. Eldon C. Daniel died Jan. 20, 2012, from complications caused by Alzheimer's Disease at North Hills Hospital, in North Richland Hills, Texas. He was 89. The Rev.
