Robert E. "Bob" Hess, 72, passed away May 2, 2012, in Benton, Kan., after losing his fight with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Fort Scott and graduated in 1959 from Uniontown High School. Bourbon County Emergency Manager Keith Jeffers spoke with county commissioners about the possibility of placing a storm siren at Fort Scott Lake on Friday. Jeffers told commissioners that lake residents approached him about acquiring one of the sirens the city donated to serve people at the lake.
