It is the last week of February, and I think we deserve a break of some kind. According to the Weather Channel, this is the longest period of cold weather, covering the largest portion of our country, since 1977. We were given a brief reprieve last week, but here we go again. The best medicine I can prescribe to alleviate our collective cases of "cabin fever," is a warm up story...

Evolution of highways

This week we rode up to Kansas City. The weather was good and we didn't have to go at the crack of dawn and all the doctor reports were positive. Since I was sitting in the back seat I could look outside from a different angle than my usual driver seat. We have lived around Highway 71, (It still is 71 in addition to the Interstate number) most of our married lives and know all the towns along the way fairly well...

Suspects in firearms theft case on house arrest

Nevada Daily Mail Two Vernon County men charged with burglary and theft earlier this month appeared in court Thursday. Chance Hill, 19, of Richards, and Gavin Doolin, 17, of Milo, have been charged with second degree burglary and theft/stealing of a firearm. Database will help with rural fire response

Nevada Daily Mail The Western Missouri 911 Dispatch Center is working to make emergency response better for those in the Nevada rural fire district.
